Jerry Gallagher biography

Posted on 4 feb 2016 by Admin

Jerry Gallagher is an actor/singer/dancer who has been performing-primarily on stage-since the age of 9.

Jerry was born in St. Louis, Missouri and developed a love of live theater at an early age. His parents Neil and Jo, a computer engineer and a registered nurse, respectively, met in a community theater production of Bye Bye Birdie. They continued working in community theater long after their marriage, and eventually took Jerry and his older brother Rob to rehearsals. Soon enough, the brothers were drafted into the performances and there was no turning back.

Jerry attended Northwestern University as a National Merit Scholar. There he studied under the wonderful Mary Poole, and worked with such greats as Dominic Missimi, Tony Award winner Frank Galati, and future Broadway/film director Jason Moore.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Speech/Theatre, Jerry began touring the country and the world as a professional actor. To date, Jerry has performed in 11 different countries, as well as on international waters, in such shows as Guys & Dolls, Crazy for You, City of Angels, and A Christmas Carol. He has also appeared on CBS, PBS, and Showtime.

Jerry is an avid reader and enjoys bicycling around the 5 boroughs of New York City, bowling with the Broadway Show Bowling League which raises money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, and quiet evenings with a glass of single malt Islay Scotch and a fine cigar among friends.
